Hello, so sorry it’s a day late, I offer you my most sincere apologies! I’m afraid I’ve been having too much of a good time lately! I’m currently preparing to move cities, keeping a watchful eye over a small baby pigeon that calls my balcony home and enjoying the Knights Templar Festival here in Tomar. It’s been a pretty fun week to be honest. Later on I’m off out for some medieval style drinks with friends. It’s a happy Saturday! Anyway, enough of me, let’s talk all things (well about 700 words worth) digital nomad. Here is your round-up for the week.
I really like reading about myths and legends, I find them fascinating. I mean really good ones though, like Atlantis, Shangri-La and Hercules/Heracles. I’m less enamored with myths regarding the digital nomad way of life but this was quite a good read. It might answer a few questions any potential digital nomads have.
Running with that theme you should also have a look at this list of the ’10 things no one admits about the digital nomad lifestyle’. It might open your eyes a little bit and it’s written by someone called the ‘wallet moth’ which I like. Makes me think of the Elton John song ‘Rocket Man’.
”If you’re having nomad problems I feel bad for you son, I got a list of 30 problems and how to overcome them.
(That attempt to shoehorn a labored reference to Jay-Z, who I know precisely one song by, is one of the many reasons I don’t have that many friends.)
And for item 4 I present you with gigers. Actually, I should say, ‘and for item 4 I was presented with gigers’. I was contacted by someone pointing me towards the direction of the site and I thought it looked pretty cool and that you might want to have a peek for yourselves. Anyway, it is explained much better in this short piece of text I received from a contact.
”Gigers is a free social community of digital nomads. At gigers.io, you can create a profile and connect with other digital nomads and like-minded people from all over the world! Gigers will also help you find a remote job thanks to a large job board which aggregates job offers from different sources across the web. You will also find a handcrafted list of MOOCs you can follow that will help you build new skills, stay up-to-date and grow your business, as well as a handcrafted list of useful office products for digital nomads! Start building relationships and growing your international digital nomads network by signing up! New cool features will be added soon, so stay tuned!”
The digital nomad dish of the week is fairly straight forward but it’s perfect for a blissful lunchtime snack or even a main meal if you’re that way inclined. It’s an incredibly easy to make (as long as you can roast a tomato) rocket and mozzarella salad. Yes, I know it might sound a touch dull but it really is perfect on hot summer days. Just make sure you roast the tomato!
If you’re a fan of the digital nomad tools of the trade (and you don’t like my own list *sob*, it’s fine, just a little dust in my eye). You can find a round-up of the 40 best tools here.

Oh, one more thing. I did receive another message from someone wishing to share something with you all this week. This is it. Obviously, the smiley face isn’t my doing.
Currently working remote as part of a remote consultancy Digiroo in SE Asia and always looking for new clients and team members. If any of my Digital Nomad friends know of any SME’s who need BI/Big Data/IoT/Drone Integration/Azure/AWS solution design and development let me know. We are looking for more PM’s, BA’s, Architects and Developers to join our team and can cater for large and small projects. A UK-based consultancy and an expert team at outsourced rates.
Wait. One more one more thing. It’s still not big or clever but it is still mine. www.twig-boy.com.
And there we go, another edition of Nomad News from Nowhere for you to while away 10 minutes reading. Again, like last week, if you have something you wish to share with the nomading world let me know. If it’s not horrible and nasty, it’ll probably get in. Have a cosmic weekend. I’ll have a mead for you!
Ah! I almost forgot. Obligatory song of the week.
