What to see?
Veröce is a village located about 45 minutes outside of Budapest. It’s a picturesque place with great views of the mountains and unparalleled, stunning views of the Danube river. Two short trains ride away are the beautiful towns of Vác and Visegrád. These towns are both amazingly cosmic and have great museums, views, bars and restaurants. Should you be after something a little more athletic there are horse riding facilities, cycling rentals and various water sport activities available for you to enjoy.
Where to stay?
We stayed here for several months, the place is great and the host Almos is one of the friendliest guys I know, the apartment is ideally situated to the station, shops, bars, restaurants and river. The apartment is fully furnished and equipped with everything you’ll need and even some English TV. It’s brilliant!
Where to eat?
Veröce has a few choices for the hungry amongst you including pizzerias and a typical Hungarian restaurant, with trains to Vác on the hour and running till late o’clock you certainly won’t be short of options to fill yourself.
Where to drink?
There is a wonderful bar with a pier over the river just off the main road. It is ridiculously cheap and serves various beers, wines and spirits. Be wary in the summer as the mosquitoes quite like a drink here too!
English in Veröce is a pretty foreign concept, brush up on any Hungarian basics you might need to help you out in the shops and bars. Failing that, just point and smile a lot?
