What to see?
Lisbon is a tourists dream, I’m pretty sure that there is something suitable for everyone. Whether it’s walking through the winding streets of Alfama, which I highly recommend, or taking a trip beneath the waves at the Oceanario De Lisboa, you are sure to find something to suit your mood. Lisbon is home to many stunning buildings and statues which give an impressive regal feel to this great city. Should you require a more sedate day out, I’ve heard nothing but good things about the National Tile Museum..

Where to stay?
Accommodation options in Lisbon are plentiful and depending on your budget you will surely find somewhere to suit your needs. Hostels are a great option here, but do be careful when booking as I have found some places to be slightly deceptive in what they offer. A good option for a cheap hotel for a few nights is the Estrela Dos Santos, the hotel is located in a good area with great transport links and the staff are warm and friendly.

Where to eat?
As Lisbon is such a bustling city you certainly won’t be short of options come breakfast, lunch and tea time. The streets are packed with bars, restaurants and cafes all eager to help you part with some monies. A lot of them are very much worth it! Eating in Lisbon is open to all tastes and you will find everything from Moroccan to McDonald’s. I stayed slightly out of the centre and found 2 or 3 wonderful places to eat, One of them is the Santos da Lapa, which is a really nice Portuguese tapas bar, the wine list is superb and the host is (although a touch eccentric) a really nice guy.

Where to drink?
One place that really stands out in a city of bars is Wanli, a treasure trove of a bar. The atmosphere is relaxed, maybe too relaxed for some but the end product is bliss. I have a soft spot for Portuguese white wine and Wanli is possibly the coolest bar I have visited up and down Portugal. I spent 3 nights in this area and visited each night. Well worth a visit, even if it’s just for a cake!

Top tip!
Wear comfortable shoes and watch your step in the hilly parts – the cobbles can be very slippery! Don’t miss Pastels De Natas – an authentic Portuguese pastry treat.
